Götterfunken – Europe as an exercise
A multimedia exhibition celebrating the 900th anniversary of Kamp Abbey
Exhibition design
Commissioned by the city of Kamp-Lintfort, this multimedia exhibition marked the 900th anniversary of Kloster Kamp. Developed by students from Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences under the supervision of Christian Stindl, the exhibition explored themes of religion, mining, and European identity through both physical and digital storytelling.
The concept was built around three object groups: historical mining artifacts, items from the Abbey, and student-chosen symbols of Europe. The challenge: Abbey objects couldn't be displayed physically. The solution: Augmented Reality. All items were 3D scanned and visualised through AR, using custom-designed markers and iconography to trigger interactive digital content.
The exhibition was structured into four thematic zones with cohesive visual identity. Responsibilities were divided across specialized teams. As part of the technical group, core contributions included:
Additional involvement included furniture prototyping and graphic design for posters, signage, and digital interfaces. The result was an immersive experience that blended heritage with innovation, bridging past and present through design and technology.
